About Carla Pooran

My name is Carla Pooran, and I have been in the aesthetic and beauty industry for over 20 years. I am the founder of SkinRenewal Clinic in Colchester, Essex. Previously, I worked at the renowned Woodford Medical Clinic within London's prestigious medical district of Harley Street and at an award-winning flagship clinic in Essex. During this time, I gained a wealth of knowledge on skin-related conditions such as acne, rosacea, hyperpigmentation/melasma and skin ageing. 

As a senior aesthetic therapist for 16 years, I underwent advanced training in various treatments, continuously updating my skills annually. I successfully built a healthy client base, including high-profile clients, beauty editors, journalists, and bloggers who regularly featured the treatments I administered.

I developed my technical skills with extensive training in:

• Photorejuvenation (IPL - Intense Pulse Light)
• Chemical skin peels
• Microneedling
• Radiofrequency
• Laser hair removal
• Microdermabrasion
• Dermaplaning

I had the privilege of being trained under the guidance of Dr Carl Thornfeldt, one of the top 5 dermatologists in the US. His approach to repairing and maintaining the skin barrier instilled in me a passion for skin health. By implementing his concept of treating the skin barrier first, known as Corneotherapy, I witnessed significant improvements in many of my clients' skin over the years.

I utilized this method to treat various skin conditions, including acne, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, melasma, scarring, and general skin ageing. Having personally experienced acne from my teenage years into adulthood, I empathize with my clients and understand how skin quality and health can impact self-confidence. 

Additionally, I was involved in various training programs, where I trained doctors, nurses, and other aesthetic professionals. I demonstrated skin peels, microneedling, and provided education on skin health and skincare brands for implementation in their clinics.

My personal circumstances inspired me to pursue a lifelong dream, alllowing me to continue my passion for skin while being present for my children. Establishing SkinRenewal, where I can share my extensive knowledge of skin and skin health in a private and safe setting, is a dream come true. 

At SkinRenewal, I offer the latest cutting-edge treatments and skincare for all skin concerns, bringing a piece of Harley Street to Colchester, Essex. I am proud to be the first clinic in Essex to provide treatments using the multi-award-winning Byonik Laser®, a pain-free device favoured by celebrities.

Since launching SkinRenewal in 2020, I have introduced additional treatments, including the Elvii532VP laser to treat veins, sunspots, and spider nevi, the Slimyonik Air Bodystyler to kickstart the lymphatic system, the Rejuvenated supplement range, Dermaviduals skincare brand, and more recently, Sylfirm X.

My passion and dedication for skin health are integral to the SkinRenewal ethos, reflected in the treatments and skincare selected for each individual client.
