What is Melasma?
Melasma is a type of pigmentation that appears as brown or grey-brown patches, often on the cheeks, forehead, upper lip and chin. It's usually symmetrical and may resemble a butterfly mask.
Unlike standard pigmentation, melasma is often hormonal, triggered by pregnancy, birth control, perimenopause or menopause, and worsened by sun or heat exposure.
