Meet Carla Pooran
Welcome, I'm Carla Pooran, founder of SkinRenewal Clinic in Colchester, Essex. I'm an advanced skin specialist, and for 25 years I've been helping people feel confident in their skin with expert-led treatments built around long-term skin health and barrier repair.
Before opening SkinRenewal, I worked at some of the UK's most respected clinics, including Woodford Medical Clinic on London's Harley Street and an award-winning flagship clinic here in Essex. I've treated high-profile clients, beauty editors, journalists and bloggers, many of whom have featured the results of their treatments.
I also trained under Dr Carl Thornfeldt, one of the leading dermatologists in the US. His work on skin barrier repair shaped my whole philosophy. Treating the barrier first, an approach known as corneotherapy, is the foundation of everything I do. Healthy skin responds better to treatment, and it's why my clients see visible results that last.
In 2026 I completed two CIBTAC Level 4 qualifications. Regulation of the aesthetics industry is tightening, and I wanted every treatment I offer to be backed by training that's independently assessed to a recognised standard of safety and clinical judgement. CIBTAC is an internationally recognised awarding body.
I struggled with acne as a teenager and well into adulthood, and I'm now going through perimenopause myself, so I know first-hand how much your skin can affect your confidence. When you tell me how your skin makes you feel, I understand. This isn't just my work. It's my passion and my purpose.

Why I Started SkinRenewal Clinic
After years of building a client base and training other professionals, including doctors, nurses and aesthetic therapists, I followed my lifelong dream and opened SkinRenewal Clinic in Colchester in 2020.
